COLORS

As with all Laine + Alliage products, colors are inspired by nature. We love earthy tones: colors than ground and calm the mind. Seasonally, we like to curate new color palette collections. For winter 2026, we’ve released SIERRA, a gorgeous blend of warm neutrals and rich, yet organic colors.

MATERIALS

For texture we want something that feels soft and luxurious. We mostly work with natural fibers like dyed wools, mohairs and silks. We also offer an incredibly soft recycled nylon that feels like silk, but with a more matte appearance. We love to create interesting details by adding in a looped element, or playing with various pile heights.

HAND-KNOTTED

Our hand-knotted rugs are luxuriously soft and plush. Each rug is sketched in NYC and handmade by artisans in Nepal using natural fibers like wool, silk and mohair. The designs are inspired by modern art, nature and the world of haute couture. Because all our rugs are made to order, you can easily create a project-specific piece for your home or your client’s home. These one of a kind rugs are sure to be the statement piece of any room they reside in.

FLATWEAVES

Contrary to our hand-knotted rugs, flatweaves do not have fluffy piles, which keeps them at a lower price point without sacrificing quality. The colors are muted, earthy, and the designs modern and graphic. Flatweaves make for perfect runners. They are also ideal for high traffic areas like entrances, hallways, dinning rooms and kitchens. Or hang them on the wall, they make great tapestries!

When developing this new rug color collection, I began by painting with colors informed by earthy tones found along Pacific beaches, pine forests, and red clay rock formations. Graphic, elegant shapes emerged through the artwork, inspired by Laine + Alliage’s classic design element: Découpage.

To translate the paintings into rugs, I worked with varied pile heights to create depth and dimension, and selected fine Tibetan wool and soft silk to enhance texture and feel. Each piece is then hand-knotted in Nepal, where the designs are carefully brought to life by skilled artisans.
